Dwight Barbiasz Preps For NCAA High Jump Championship on Friday

When Dwight Barbiasz lines up for his first jump this Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, he will have someone in his corner who has been there before.  Barbiasz will be joined by assistant coach Frank Costello, a former two-time All-American in the high jump as a Terp in 1965 and 1966. The duo will battle for a national title this weekend in Des Moines, IA.

For head coach Andrew Valmon, it is a match made in heaven. “Frank Costello started the high jump legacy at Maryland and we pride ourselves on uniting the past of Maryland track and field with the future of the program,” Valmon said. “Dwight embodies the characteristics of someone who can continue this tradition and leave a strong mark on our program’s history.”
