There will never be an ounce of pity for the Yankees in this town. Game after game, the Yankees sit with the bat on their shoulders waiting for the free pass and more often then not they get it.
Too bad–the O’s won and are back in a 1st place tie with Zach Britton pitching tomorrow.
What does rankle me, is Sabathia clearly throwing at Markakis, causing Nick to break his left thumb and possibly ruining the O’s pennant chances. Tex supposedly reinjured his calf last night, so the next target should be Jeter or Cano. If not the O’s will continued to be thrown at until Adam Jones or Reynolds are taken down. Whatever it must be the Yankee way.
The loss of Markakis is devastating, who becomes the leadoff hitter. McLouth—i doubt it–he is a hitter who has just found his way. Machado–too young –too much pressure. JJ hardy –that’s the guy.

they’re not throwing at anybody today. you want to risk a player getting suspended in a pennant race. for yankee fans. payback for jeffrey maier (who i wish a rash on his back that itches and he can’t reach the spot to scratch) though that was a bigger play in a bigger game.
I like Mclouth as lead off. A good contact hitter with speed. Move Machado up to the 3. Hardy doesn’t have the speed at 1.
Don’t know if Nick was thrown at, it was just a tight pitch he leaned into. But Freddie no way a Yankee even slightly faces the possibility of suspension, ever!
to mricklen. i’m talking about an oriole being suspended if they threw at a yank today. cc didn’t throw at nick. tex was clearly safe at first. i’d like to see mclouth lead off and play left. ford to right. drop jones to third in the line up..wieters 4th and ithr davis or reynolds 5th. i wouldn’t move manny yet. he’s comfortable where’s he’s at and adds some oommpph to the back of the line up. all year long someone unexpected has stepped up for the o’s and ford can do the job. to yankee fans the call at first is a little payback for the jeffrey maier play though that was a bigger play in a bigger game. if the o’s win today they win the season seris from the yanks and would host a one game playoff if they tie the yanks for a playoff or division spot.
sorry about the repeat comment on maier. can’t wait for today’s game.
Sorry Fred I obviously misread your comment.
But do stand by the impossibility of any Yank ever being suspended. They are incorrigible…the league and the protected Yankees.
Yes today is a big one, as are all the remaining.
No matter, an incredible season out of nowhere and a great foundation for years to come.
Similar to the Rays turnaround from mediocrity in 2008.
if the league was protecting the yanks how come tex wasn’t called safe last night. surely the umps are in cahoots with the league. if an o’s pitcher throws at a yankee today and the yanks retaliate the yank pitcher will be tossed.
