#8 Lady Terps Ease Past Delle Donne and Delaware 69-53

Tianna Hawkins and Alyssa Thomas combined for 29 points and 29 rebounds and No. 8 Maryland used a 17-4 run to close the game in front of a sellout crowd at Delaware, 69-53, Thursday.

Hawkins had 16 points and 16 rebounds, while All-American Alyssa Thomas had 13 of each.Katie Rutan scored 13 for the Terps (8-2), who won their fourth straight game.

Hawkins scored 12 straight points to help Maryland open a 43-31 lead over Delaware (5-3) with just over two minutes gone in the second half. With 13:17 left, the Terps led 50-37.

Delaware’s All-American Delle Donne had eight points and Danielle Parker had four to help the Blue Hens pull to 52-49 with just over eight minutes to play. Coming out of the under-8 media timeout, Rutan and freshman Chloe Pavlech hit back to back threes to bring Maryland’s lead back to 58-51 with 6:41 to go.
