Don’t Jump Ship Yet—Terps Capable of Turning Around Season

Negativism has captured Terrapin nation. I for one do not believe the season is over. Far from it.The improvement in this team has been gradual, very gradual. But we are getting better. It’s such a fine line between 3-5 and 5-3. Do you really think Miami is a power. Did Wake almost beat Duke yesterday? The power in basketball rests not in the ACC but in our soon to be new conference.

The Terps next 3 games are Wake–the Hokies on the road and UVA at home next Sunday. We will be clear favorites in the 2 home games and potential victors in the Blacksburg game. Now if you disagree in what I say, you just haven’t been watching the ACC. Let’s take the games one by one and not give up on anyone because of a bad play on the road. There was criticism of Dez Wells for his mistake of leaving Michael Snaer alone. Look he thought there was a loose ball–a mistake in judgment. Alex had a bad game Wednesday and the Terps had the depth to overcome it. And anyone who doesn’t think PeShon was missed down the wire is clueless.

Certain tendencies have to be overcome but this I know:

Layman is playing better.

Turge has set up a few plays for Logan and he is now a presence.

Dez Wells was superb against FSU. Cut down his turnovers and he was fantastic. If you don’t think that was the case you must have not watched the game.

Seth was in a funk–he is a Freshman–Can you understand that.

Mitchell and Shaq improve every game–can’t you see it.

Talk to me next Sunday when the Terps could be 6-5.

the brown acid that is circulating around us isn’t too good. It is suggested that you stay away from that. Of course it’s your own trip. So be my guest, but please be advised that there is a warning on that one, ok?”

back in the real world. based on games other than the many cupcake games and based on their actual play..not what their potential might be, not based on being a freshman or sophomore..just how they have actually played… you can’t disregard a rash of turnovers by a player in order say his play is superb becuas turnovers are part of the game like missed shots, good and bad defense. if you do you might as well say seth allen shot great last game if you disregard the 5 shots he missed and only count the one he made. dez has had several good shooting nights and he has had his share of 2-10 games. but the turnovers have been pretty consistent. layman has had 2 good games and a flash here or there in a couple more games but overall hasn’t played well. shaq has had parts of a couple games where he has played well but for the most part he hasn’t played well. mitchell has played the best by far of any of the freshman. aronhalt has had a couple of good games but many games in which you wonder why is he on the team.. peshon has been inconsistent to say the least. whether he is hurt, slowed by the surgeries, lack of confidence no matter. len has very inconsistent. no real post moves. he’s has shown he’s not a true center. maybe he’s a slow learner, maybe he isn’t getting good coaching..he just doesn’t have good post moves nor does he get and hold position well. yes a good point gurard would certainly help but based on his play size and athleticism you would think he should be doing much better. padgett plays hard but not a very effective player. the team rebounds well and usually plays good defense. but their overall offense is not good. sure they could be 5-3 rather than 3-5 but they’re not. they are 3-5.
