More on the game:
It’s funny what you miss when you are watching the game from the upper deck. I never felt the pressure Coach Pees dialed up against Kaepernick. To me it’s incredible that Colin was playing the “Pisto” 5 years ago at Nevada and yet so many NFL teams failed to figure out how to defend it. Mark my words the Pistol will be diffused by the better minds of the game. What looks unstoppable isn’t and SF will learn next season. as write this Green Bay, New Orleans, St Louis, etc are breaking it down now. Bruce Arians who should be Coach of the Year said no “Read option or Pistol offensive team has ever won or will ever win the Super Bowl.
It’s obvious why the ravens tried to make Kaepernick one dimensional—his passing in tight was clearly out of sync. All the more reason Jim Harbaugh really erred in not running the ball 1st and goal from the 7.
Everyone completely overlooked how crucial Tucker’s 38 yard FG was to put the Ravens back up by 5. Watching it again, the kick would have been good from 55 and it was dead down the middle. There is a lesson to be learned from the Tucker FA signing. Look for a college kicker who has been successful in hostile territory like Tucker was in Texas. A “hook em horns” salute to Justin for a tremendous season.
I never realized in the stands what Harbaugh was so upset about during the blackout—Brother Jim’s coaches were on the field huddling with their head coach—Dean Pees was upstairs along with Joe Caldwell powered out of coming downstairs to speak with with John. Believe me the walk from upstairs is not a 2 minute trip.
Upon 2nd thought, the Fake Fg attempt was a mistake. Not because it didn’t work but because Tucker actually had to run for 17 yards to achieve the 1st down. When I saw him take off, I thought to myself it’s wide open –but 17 yards. However things worked out well for the purple.
