With the help of former Terrapin Tewaaraton winners Caitlyn McFadden and Katie Schwarzmann, the United States captured the 2013 FIL World Cup Championship with a convincing 19-5 win against Canada Saturday.
McFadden and Schwarzmann – who both started for Team USA – combined for three goals and three draw controls in the title game.
Team USA set program and tournament records for goals (127), goals per game (18.0) and margin of victory (13.2) The tournament saw the Americans outscore their opponents by a combined 127-34. This win was Team USA’s seventh World Cup title, having reached the final in all nine World Cup tournaments.
Australia topped England 12-6 in the bronze medal match.
