Just a few points watching a disappointing loss:
Our new 1 year rival, Pitt, obviously is very tough to beat at home although it was not one of those noise deafening crowds. Perhaps because the game was not that close in the 2nd half. I had a feeling the Terps could be in for a long night after Nick and Jake didn’t score in the 1st half. Maryland stayed close at 36-30 on 3 treys by Smotrycz.
But in the half Smotrycz was 1-10 and the entire Maryland team was 8-28–not good enough for an ACC road win. Pitt seemed to score at will on the inside and continued to stretch the lead.
Turgeon was visibly upset and actually called a timeout with 1 minute left with Maryland hopelessly behind. Seth Allen led the Terps with 18 points including 4 treys. Jake finished with 3 points on 1-7 shooting. Maryland has 13 turnovers and only 8 assists while Pitt had 18 asists and only 7 turnovers –say no more.
The Terps travel to FSU on Saturday night.
