Alyssa Thomas was drafted 4th overall by the New York Liberty in the WNBA draft Monday night at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. Thomas was then traded to the Connecticut Sun minutes later in a blockbuster deal.
Thomas is the sixth Terrapin under head coach Brenda Frese to be a top ten draft pick.
“I’m just really excited and thrilled to be headed to Connecticut,” Thomas said. “I want to thank the Connecticut Sun head coach Anne Donovan and staff. I wouldn’t be here without Coach Frese and the great staff at Maryland, my family and my coaches and friends in Harrisburg. This is a dream come true and no words describe what it felt like to have my name called.”
