Due to the Illness of his Grandmother, Charles Mitchell Becomes the 5th Terrapin to Leave the Program

Sophomore forward Charles Mitchell has been granted permission to transfer for his junior season to tend to his ill grandmother, the Maryland program announced on Thursday.

Mitchell will look to transfer to a school in or close to the Atlanta area where his grandmother helped raise him. One possible landing spot for Mitchell could be the University of Georgia.

“Recently, Charles shared with us that his grandmother had become ill,” Turgeon said in a statement. “I feel terrible for Charles and his family. Although we will miss Charles, we understand and support his decision to move closer to his home so he can help support and be there for his family. I appreciate Charles’ commitment to our program and he will always be a part of our family.”

Nice knowing you Turgeon. I was optimistic about his chances for success here but I think this should be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Lucky for him the athletic director is inept and may still keep him. I wonder if there’s any chance we could steal Buzz Williams away from VT? Certainly would be a needed upgrade heading into Big10 play.
