Ravens 23 Browns 21—Ravens Get Lucky on the Road–Pitta Inured

Let us not forget the Ravens were 2-6 on the road last year. Brian Hoyer carved us up with pinpoint passing all day but failed to deliver on a 3rd down pass that would have ended the game. Joe calmly completed a pass to Steve Smith that set up the winning FG. Without 2 missed FGs by Billy Cundiff ( yes that’s the same guy) the Ravens would not have been in position to win. What might be the big story of the game is the injury to Dennis Pitta. Sadly, it seemed like a reinjury of his damaged hip.

Harbaugh was faced with many game changing decisions that brought second guessing to a peak.

1—Down 21-17 with 10 minutes , he chose to go for a 1st down down 4th and inches in FG territory. Once again this 4th and inches remains a stumbling block.

2—Did not challenge a shuttle passed that could have been ruled a fumble deep in the Ravens territory as the Browns were poised to take the lead.

3—Decide to punt with 2;30 left facing a 4th and 16 from midfield. Koch pinned the Browns deep, the Browns failed to get a first down, the Ravens wind up scoring.

Harbaugh’s decision making wins the game no matter how you look at it.

CONCERNS post game: Owen Daniels is now the key to the Ravens immediate future. He must remain healthy. Jacoby is invisible in effectiveness. Once again he dropped a key pass. The secondary not only could not cover, it could not tackle. Ladarius seems a long way from a return to his pre injury ability. It seems like every 1st and goal winds up in a FG .  Kubiak has to get Torrey more involved.

POSITIVES The Ravens are 2-1 in the division. The running game has been a very pleasant surprise. Steve Smith finally puts the Anquan Boldin release to an end.
