Orioles Go Down Meekly in Game 3 Losing 2-1—-Could They Really be Swept By the Royals?

I don’t know how many times throughout the season Orioles fans including myself have wondered how could this team have won so many games missing Manny, Wieters, and then losing Davis.  Everything was great until the level of competition climbed to the highest level. In the post season Steve Pearce (4 -24, Nick Hundley (1-15), Caleb Joseph (2-6), and Ryan Flaherty (5-18) for a combined 12 for 62 or a .193 average.

But most important is the loss of Chris Davis. The lineup is just way too righthanded especially in the middle. Though Davis was batting below the Mendoza line, his presence in the lineup could have made a huge difference.  No doubt Davis was my favorite player and much study will have to be done about his dealing with the drug that brought him down before any commitment can be made.

As all O’s fans sensed tonight that once the O’s trailed 2-1 going into the top of the 7th, there was virtually no chance of a comeback. Not only did the O’s not get a baserunner against Herrera, Davis, and Holland–they never even hit a ball hard.

At this point I still want to see the Orioles avoid being swept, the season has been too great to end that way. Gonzo is on the mound and hopefully he can create 2nd guessing for Buck not using him until almost all was just about lost.

Some bright points:

Chen was great tonight

I am really glad JJ Hardy is resigned for 3 years

Gausman as well pitched brilliantly tonight

Ernie Johnson is great on the TNT Basketball show with Shaq, CWebb, Barkley, and Kenny the Jet, but the volume went off tonight. His incessant KC talk nauseated me.
