Freddy from Boca Weighs in on Baseball’s Winter Meetings and the O’s

This week in SAN Diego Major League Baseball conducts it’s annual winter meetings.

For the O’s they are here to address some needs including a possible replacement for recently departed Nick Markakis, a dh to replace Nelson Cruz, Left handed relief pitcher to replace Andrew Miller, and maybe even a left fielder.

I don’t expect the O’s to sign a free agent outfielder unless it’s a last resort move. i don’t think any of the free agent outfielders would fit as a starter for the Birds.

The team could swing a trade for either Atlanta’s Justin Upton, who has one year left on his contract or the Dodgers Matt Kemp, who is signed for a few more years. At this time Kemp could be headed for San Diego.

There’s a good chance the O’s will go to spring training with De Aza and Pearce penciled in for left field and a battle for right field which could include Darial Alverez and some one year free agent signing

As for Dan Duquette, it looks like he’s in Baltimore through this year and if the Toronto CEO job is still open next September/October, I could see Duke leaving for the North
