Back to Back–Terps Avenge Championship Loss to Tar Heels in 2013 Defeating Them 9-8 Behind Incredible Effort of Taylor Cummings

Tonight it was the McDonogh connection of Taylor Cummings and Megan Whittle that completed the final step to the promised land for the Terps.

Maryland trailed 6-3 at halftime and the Taylor took over. Maryland has had some stupendous women players in the past and now that Taylor has won her 2nd NCAA Title and soon to be 2nd Tewaaraton Award (in my opinion), we can now put her in the discussion with Jen Adams and all of the Terrapin greats. I am just amazed every time I watch her play. Taylor is athletic, graceful, tough as nails, unselfish, and perhaps the most brilliant lacrosse player I have witnessed. Even tonight as things went sour for the Terps in the 1st half, you just knew Taylor would find a way to lead Maryland to victory.

Megan Whittle can not be stopped one on one–simple fact. Hats off to Brook Griffin, Megan Douty, Kelly McPartland, Kristin Lamon, Erin Collins, Casey Pepperman, Alex Fitzpatrick and all the Seniors as this was their last game. Just a reminder baby sister 6′ Kelsey Cummings joins the squad next year.

Finally, hats off to the greatest Women’s Coach in the land, Cathy Reese and her staff– Lauri Kenis, Caitlyn Phipps, Alex Aust , and Natalie Wills.
