Terps Roll Past IU 86-63 as Brionna Reaches 1000 Points

Junior Brionna Jones notched a double-double and reached 1,000 career points as the No. 5 Maryland women’s basketball team used a third-quarter run to defeat Indiana 86-63 Saturday, the Terrapins’ seventh straight victory.

“I thought Indiana came out and was ready to play, which we expected,” head coach Brenda Frese said. “I thought that our spurt in the third quarter when we came right out of half time was the difference in the game. It was an OK first half but I thought better basketball in the second half.”

Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Brene Moseley both led the game with 16 points. Brionna Jones had 10 points and 12 rebounds to help Maryland move into a first-place tie with Ohio State in the Big Ten.

With a layup in the third quarter, Jones became the 31st player in program history to reach the 1,000-career points mark.
