SWK Scores Career High 41 as Terps Crush Purdue 87-67

Junior Shatori Walker-Kimbrough scored a career-high 41 points to lead the No. 5 Maryland women’s basketball team to an 87-67 victory over Purdue on Tuesday night.

Walker-Kimbrough finished with the highest scoring total ever by a Boilermakers opponent, and topped her previous career-best of 26. She became just the second all-time Terp to reach the 40-point mark and was one off of Marissa Coleman’s program record of 42 points in a game.

Kristen Confroy and Brionna Jones each scored 13 points against the Boilermakers (16-6, 7-4 Big Ten), and Malina Howard added 12 to help Maryland (20-2, 9-1) win its eighth straight game.

Walker-Kimbrough scored 11 of Maryland’s first 13 points as the Terps took a 13-4 lead halfway through the first quarter. She finished the half with 24 points on 11-of-14 shooting as Maryland took a 41-28 lead into the break.

Next up is #15 Michigan State Friday at 7 at Xfinity

This was an amazing offensive performance by Shatori – 41 points on just 21 shots and only one made three pointer.

Kudos also need to go to Malina Howard who had a very productive stretch in the third quarter and added seven rebounds to to her 12 points.

The big surprise was Brenda shortening her bench. The starters played 173 of the 200 minutes and the Terps have to play Friday against an improving #17 Michigan State team and then have to go to Columbus for the rematch with #8 OSU on Monday.
