I was bewildered by this decision. Why hire an agent until you have been evaluated by the NBA. It’s a fait accompli. Look, I only hope the best for him, just like I would for any Terrapin leaving early, or staying full term. So what could this mean–perhaps Turge will have to replace an entire starting lineup.
Diamond Stone as a projected 1st rounder will probably be gone according to most that I have talked to. Melo will be going to NBA camp but has not signed with an agent. 50-50 at best he returns.
Remember this however, Turge already has 2 great recruits coming next year in Cowan (PG) and Kevin Huerter (2G). Apparently there are 800 transfers available though I don’t know how many are eligible next year. Turgeon’s strength is his relentless recruiting attention, along with his right hand man–Dustin Clarke. Relax Terrapin nation, the Terps will be fine.

what would help md the most next yr is turgeon bringing in an assistant coach that can teach big men and teach an effective half court offense..
i know the 2 incoming freshman are highly rated but they’ve never played a game at the college level. only time will tell how well these 2 will play.
remember how excited many of you were when cleare signed with the terps. some had him starting from day one. he was lousy. remember how you felt when md signed joe smith. probably little or no reaction and certainly no expectations. you never know but those who say this one will be great and that one will be great are just talking because they like to hear themselves talk. with kids coming up to a higher level of play you just don’t know until they actually get out there and play.
heck of a first round for jordan spieth at the masters. boy does he like that course. long way to go, though.
