Tremendous Fans of the Warriors To Be Left in the Cold With the Move to San Francisco

The name of the team for years has been the Golden State Warriors often wore the City on the uni. The city refers to San Francisco but the team resides in Oakland for a few more games. Last Monday night I was in the Oracle Arena for game 2 of the Warriors Rockets series. No Steph but no factor on the crowd. Without question the most vociferous, engaged , loud professional crowd I have been at ever. I have been to the Civic Center, Verizon, Largo, Philly, the old Boston Garden, the Forum, Staples Center, Indianapolis, Miami, LA Sports Arena, Madison Square Garden, etc. No arena had the fervor of the crowd I witnessed last Monday. For years Oakland has supported this team and now they will be gone to what will be a better, bigger, more skybox friendly arena, near AT&T Park. But the atmosphere will be gone forever.

As Golden State was pulling away from a dismal Rocket squad I got up to leave, and as in Philly I heard chants of “you can’t leave” because the game wasn’t over. This Warrior team might just be the best ever–certainly the best regular season ever. The “Dubs” play with a fluidity the likes of which no one has ever seen. Perhaps my enthusiasm for the NBA has withered with the continued decline of my team, the Bullets errrrr Wizards.  But today at 3:30 I will closely be watching GS take another step toward history. Put it in the bank.
