Terps Win Reg BIG 10 Season Title Outright Defeating the Blue Jays 11-8 at Homewood

Observations:

Usually when you lose face-offs 17-5 and ground balls 30-20, you usually lose. Not today –sloppy Hopkins along with tenacious Terrapin defense resulted in a huge win for Maryland.Austin Heninegshen once again sat out the game though he was available to play.

The Terps are 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the BIG 10 with the BIG ten Tourney awaiting.

In the 2nd half goalie Kyle Bernlohr was incredible and keyed the victory.

Brian Cole and Matt Rambo led the offense for Maryland.

Tremendous amount of Terrapin fans were at Homewood.

Greg Dansiglio was his usual aggressive, ball hawking self.

After watching the replay on ESPN3, my buddy Booker Corrigan did an excellent unbiased play by play of the game.

Colin Heacock continued his goal scoring barrage with 2 additional today.

So what is the Terps reward for winning today, a possible rematch with the Blue Jays next Saturday at Homewood again. The Terps will play Penn State Thursday night night at 530.

Maryland gets to keep possession of the Crab Trophy for the next year.

Maryland’s defense was off the charts good Saturday. If Maryland wins the B1G Tournament, it’s possible the Terps could go into the NCAAT as the top overall seed.

I think the coaching staff – Tillman, Conry and Reppert – deserve an enormous amount of credit. This is an exceptionally well coached team that’s just running smoothly right now. They also look like they have a very high lacrosse IQ. I’ve been very impressed watching their offense probe opposing defenses early in the game before finding and regularly exploiting defensive weaknesses as the game progresses.
