Dez and Rasheed Sign With Bulls for Summer League Ball

Guard Rasheed Sulaimon officially joined the Chicago Bulls Summer League roster, the organization announced Thursday. The Honorable Mention All-Big Ten selection is poised to make his NBA debut at the Las Vegas Summer League this weekend.

A transfer from Duke, Sulaimon provided tremendous leadership to a youth-laden Terrapin squad last season. The 6-4 guard from Houston, Texas, was an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten pick in 2016 while averaging 11.3 points and 3.5 assists per game. Sulaimon capped his collegiate career with 1,307 points, 310 assists and 115 steals. He recorded 13.0 points and 2.6 assists per game in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, including an 18-point showing versus Kansas in the Sweet 16.

Former Terrapin Dez Wells is also on Chicago’s Summer League roster. Wells, a three-year starter who earned All-Big Ten first team honors as a senior and led Maryland to a school-record 28 wins during the 2014-15 season, spent his first professional basketball season playing with the Oklahoma City Blue of the NBA D-League.

The Bulls will tip off their summer league docket with preliminary games on July 9 versus the Boston Celtics, July 10 versus the Philadelphia 76ers and July 12 versus the San Antonio Spurs. Upon the conclusion of the preliminary schedule, the Bulls will then be seeded in a tournament-style circuit that will determine the 2016 Samsung NBA Summer League champion in the Championship Game on July 18. Every team is guaranteed to play at least five games.

The 2016 NBA Summer League features 24 teams competing in a 67-game schedule from July 8-18 at the COX Pavilion and Thomas & Mack Center on the campus of the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. ESPN will present all 67 games from Las Vegas across ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ESPNU and WatchESPN. In total, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU will broadcast 25 games, including all four quarterfinal games, both semifinal games and the Championship Game on Monday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET at the Thomas & Mack Center. Fans can also log on to ESPN3, where all 67 games will be live-streamed. NBA TV will also televise a total of 30 games.
