A look at Maryland’s basketball recruiting situation

Football practice is well under way as the Terps prepare for Opening Day on Sat Sept 3rd

Maryland took on the German professional team TK Hannover in a town north of Florence called Ponte Buggianese. Freshmen Destiny Slocum and Sarah Myers led the Terps with 10 points each. Sophomore Kiah Gillespie and senior Brionna Jones each added nine and sophomore Brianna Fraser scored eight. The Terrapins trailed through the second half, then went on a furious run scoring 26 points in the fourth quarter alone. They fell 66-62 in their first of two games on the trip.

The Charlotte Hounds feature five former Terps on the roster: Mike Chanenchuk (’14), Michael Ehrhardt (’14), John Haus (’13), Brett Schmidt (’11) and Pat Young (’16). The Hounds advanced to the playoffs with a key 15-13 victory over the Chesapeake Bayhawks in the regular season finale.

Six former members of the Maryland women’s lacrosse team were selected to the 2017 U.S. Women’s National Team on Sunday following a three-day tryout at US Lacrosse’s national training center. Attackers Alex Aust and Brooke Griffin, midfielders Taylor Cummings and Katie Schwarzmann and defenders Megan Douty and Alice Mercer were all named to the 36-player roster.

give it up to michael phelps, the us mens swim relay team and womens gymnastic team….gold…gold…gold…

after winning his individual race last night phelps stood on the medal platform teary eyed as the national anthem was being played but towards the end broke out laughing

Here’s what Phelps told NBC after winning yet another gold, his 21st, in the men’s 4×200 meter freestyle relay:

My boys from Baltimore were down on the other end, and back in Maryland, we all say “O!” for the Orioles during that part of the National Anthem. And all of the sudden I hear them roar “O!” and I knew exactly where I came from, and I just lost it because those guys came down from Baltimore and New York City to be here, and it’s just special to see those guys in the stands.
