Oh my. Boxing films are usually a cut above the average movie especially if you are a fight fan. This story of of perhaps the greatest Lightweight Champion of all time, Roberto Duran, continues this tradition. A fantastic performance by DeNiro as the legendary manager Ray Arcel highlights the movie. The story reflects of how Panama embraced its Champion.
For those of you who are too young to know, the fight covers excellently the pair of grudge fights between Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran, truly the fights of the century. Usher provides a great portrayal of Leonard.
I’ll leave the judgment up to you but for me it was a knockout winner.
