Quotes From Coach Durkin on Tuesday—Perry Will Start on Saturday

“I think we got a lot of things together during the bye week. We got some things accomplished. We improved as a team. We had a lot of areas that our team needed to improve in, and I think our team took that to heart. We had some really good practices last week. Of course, the week off helped some of our guys get healthy. Our guys got the rest that they needed. Now we’re opening up the Big Ten schedule, so it’s an exciting time for all of us. Being back at home is nice. It feels like forever ago since we’ve had a home game here. Our guys are excited about that.

I have a couple of updates. Denzel Conyers suffered an injury in the UCF game. He tore his ACL. He’ll be out. He’s having surgery shortly. We feel for Denzel. He’s a senior who was playing really well for us. He’ll continue to be a great member of our team, but just in a different way now.

[Quarterback] Perry [Hills] went down at the end of the [UCF] game as well. He’ll be ready to go for us.

We’ve been watching a bunch of tape on Purdue. They played a game last weekend that we’ve caught up on. They’re a well-coached team. They played a tough game last week and still figured out a way to win the game. We have a very formidable opponent coming into our stadium this weekend. They play aggressive and create a lot of problems. We’re working on getting a good game plan together, and getting ready for Saturday.”
