– Maryland running backs Ty Johnson and Lorenzo Harrison III combined for 147 yards rushing, but the Terps were unable to upset No. 5 Wisconsin on Saturday, falling to the Badgers, 38-13, at Camp Randall Stadium.
Johnson rushed for a team-high 83 yards on 16 carries while Harrison posted 64 yards on the ground and also caught four passes for 21 yards. Senior Taivon Jacobs led Maryland with five receptions and 45 receiving yards.
Wisconsin (7-0, 4-0 B1G) rushed for 215 yards, including 126 from freshman running back Jonathan Taylor.
Maryland (3-4, 1-3) possessed the ball for much of the first quarter, but a Wisconsin pick-six early in the opening frame gave the Badgers a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Midway through the third quarter, Terps quarterback Max Bortenschlager connected with Jacobs for a 10-yard touchdown strike that cut the Wisconsin lead to 28-10.
Senior kicker Henry Darmstadter then converted on a 45-yard field goal, his second of the day to get Maryland within two scores. The Terps would get no closer the rest of the way. Sophomore Antoine Brooks and senior Jalen Brooks led the Terps with 10 tackles each. Senior Josh Woods recorded an interception and Brett Kulka forced a fumble that Darnell Savage recovered.
Maryland returns home next Saturday to host Indiana for Homecoming. The game is set for a 3:30 p.m. kick at Maryland Stadium.
