6 Goals From Connor Kelly Supplies The Terps (9-1 and 2-0 in the Big Ten) with a 13-12 Win over Penn State

After watching the Masters for 5 hours and relishing in the 1-2-3 Finish of 3 of my favorite players, it was time to turn my attention to the quest of the Terrapins (lax that is) to be placed at the rightful spot as #1 in the nation.

Penn State was hot and with Coach Jeff Tambroni being at 0-5 vs the Terps at Penn State, the Nittany Lions were foaming at the mouth waiting for the Terps.

The game did not disappoint and neither did the Terps.

Trailing for most of the game, Logan Wisnaukas put the Terps up by 2 with on 2 left handed darts from long pole passes.

Connor Kelly took over this game scoring 6 goals, Will Snyder (who is suddenly blossoming) scored twice and Danny Morris made 3 key saves in the final minutes to preserve the victory.

This is the 4th straight road victory for Maryland and will return to the friendly confines of Maryland Stadium for the next 2 games on Sunday vs Rutgers and Ohio State.

I must note that tbe Blue Jays won their 7th straight game, are #5 in the nation, and have found the missing scoring link they needed in Cole Williams. Showdown date with the Terps is April 28th, 2 PM at Homewood. Get your tickets now as this should be an 11,000 attendance game.

Elsewhere on this site I wrote a story about how compelling sports can be using the final round of the Masters as its frame. I could have used this game as well.

And on another note, 10 games into the current season, Maryland has a cumulative record of 105-30, a national championship plus five other Final Four appearances in the 7+ seasons since John Tillman became the head coach. But he does more than win. His program produces quality people like last season’s Senior Class Award winner Isaiah Davis-Allen and Dan Morris, a finalist for the award this year. (Fan voting counts for 1/3 of the total so cast your vote here: http://www.seniorclassaward.com/vote/lacrosse_2018/ ) Terps fans should recognize their good fortune every day.
