Maryland men’s lacrosse senior goalkeeper Dan Morris has been named one of 10 finalists for the collegiate lacrosse 2018 Senior CLASS Award, which recognizes student-athletes who excel both on and off the field.

Fans voting counts for 1/3 of the balloting total, with the remaining 2/3 determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members. Click here to vote.

Last year, Isaiah Davis-Allen became Maryland lacrosse’s first-ever Senior CLASS Award recipient. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

A native of Dallas, Texas, Morris recently graduated with a degree in psychology and a minor in leadership studies in May 2017 with a 3.6 GPA. He is currently pursuing a master of science in business and management. Morris is a two-time Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and a three-time academic all-conference recipient.

Morris has earned a bevy of accolades on the playing field, most notably leading the Terrapins to the 2017 National Championship as the starting goalkeeper. A 2017 Inside Lacrosse All-American, Morris was also named to the 2017 NCAA All-Tournament Team and Big Ten All-Tournament team for his excellent performances in postseason play. He was also recently named a 2018 Midseason All-American.

A captain for the Terrapins, Morris is actively involved in community service and many on-campus organizations. He has served as the team’s community service director since 2015, while also being a member of several academic societies including the National Society of Leadership and Success.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School ®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

The finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 20 candidates announced last month. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner, and fans are encouraged to submit votes online at the Senior CLASS Award website through May 14.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in conjunction with the 2017 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse National Championship in May.
