Terps Bball Adds Ricky Lindo to Class of 2018—-from umterps.com

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Head coach Mark Turgeon announced the addition of forward Ricky Lindo to the class of 2018 Wednesday. Lindo further bolsters a consensus top-15 recruiting class for Turgeon, as he joins Jalen Smith, Eric Ayala, Aaron Wiggins, Serrel Smith and Trace Ramsey in the Terrapins’ six-player freshmen class.

Lindo turned heads nationally this summer on the AAU circuit, developing into a key player for the DC Premier that won the Fab 48 Tournament in Las Vegas. The Washington, D.C. native grew six inches between his sophomore and junior years at Woodrow Wilson High School, helping the Tigers win their first DCIAA title since 1984.

What They’re Saying:

Head Coach Mark Turgeon: “We’re thrilled to have Ricky join our Maryland family. Ricky is a talented young man and excellent student from a great family. He’s 6-8 with a long wingspan, making him a very versatile player with the ability to play multiple positions for us. He can do a lot of different things well, has great upside as just a 17-year-old. I’m looking forward to working with Ricky to help him reach his full potential.”

Ricky Lindo: “I’ve always been a Maryland fan since I was younger growing up in the area, and it was basically a dream come true to be able to play for my hometown school that I’ve always admired. During my visit I feel like I clicked with the current players and we really got along. We have the same goals of making it far in the NCAA Tournament and winning the Big Ten, and I think I can help this team accomplish those goals. I’m excited to be a Terp.”

Ricky’s Father, Ricardo Lindo Sr.: “This will be a great opportunity for Ricky to continue his education at basketball career at the University of Maryland. Mark Turgeon and the coaching staff were every upbeat and excited with what Ricky can bring to the program. Having the opportunity to play local and for a team that he has followed throughout the years will be a great experience for Ricky, and most importantly – he felt it was a great fit.”

Angelo Hernandez, Head Coach Woodrow Wilson HS: “Ricky is a great young man who is very coachable and a hard worker. He is a slasher who can play on the perimeter and can shoot the ball exceptionally well. I think his best quality is rebounding. He has a knack for being in the right place and the ability to go back up and finish. He showed this summer he can play beside some of the best players in the country and still be successful. Ricky hasn’t even scratched the surface yet of what he can do on the court and I can’t wait to see him compete at the collegiate level at Maryland.”
