What the heck was the discussion that Terrell “might” be an All ACC 1st team selection. If not there is no justice. Stogs was simply stupendous scoring 27 on 9-11 shooting including 4 threes. Coach Turgeon could find no fault with his star tonight. Wake up Jay Williams–Terrell is 5 times better then you said. Can we ever get a gammon the tube without a Dookie on the broadcast team?

When the Terps were up 54-38, didn’t you just know Clemson would make a run. Jennings and Young seemed to make 3 after 3. Mosley contributed 16 including 3 threes. Listen, everyone stay off PeShon’s back. Yes he had a rough game 1-5—-2 points–3 turn overs but we still found a way to win.

Coach Turgeon post game:

“That’s a great win for us. Now we don’t have to listen to everyone say `they’re going for their first road win.’ We got that behind us. I thought we were as good as we have been defensively, executing, and distributing the ball. We got the big lead and then at the 7:33 timeout, I told our guys we had been great for 33 minutes, but we have to play 40. Clemson hit the three coming out that sort of got them going, then we let our offense dictate our defense down the stretch and, in typical fashion, we missed a lot of free throws to make it interesting for everybody. In the end, I thought Terrell Stoglin was tremendous and I thought Sean Mosley gave us a lot of quality minutes. We have to rebound a little better, but we followed the game plan. We had certain guys on their team that we wanted to beat us, and our guys followed that plan pretty well for the most part.”

Padgett and Pankey combined for 14 points and 14 rebounds in what was there best performance on the road in the ACC. Give credit to the comeback to Clemson. The 1-3-1 killed the Terps causing confusion and chaos. But here is the bottom line –the Terps are now 14-9 overall and 4-5 in the ACC with a date at Durham on Saturday at Cameron Indoor.

The Loyola Scrimmage

As is usual here, we’re not going to post a score or any specifics about last Saturday’s scrimmage at Loyola, but we’re not going to try to ignore that it happened either. What we will do here is take a look at a few of the Terps who played really well vs. the Greyhounds.

Billy Gribbin - What a debut for the Penn State transfer. Gribbin scored the Terps’ first two goals and looked to be completely comfortable with the Maryland offense. His decision-making was solid and could have had a couple of assists if some shots off of some of his passes found their way into the goal. When asked about who he thought had a good scrimmage Coach Tillman, Gribbin was the first player he brought up; high praise off of one outing as a Terp.

Niko Amato - Nothing new here; Amato was terrific as a ball-stopper. The fact that he looked so at ease in front of an entirely new close defense and a mostly new crew of shorties is amazing. He played just a little more than two quarters and exited the game with nine saves. Nothing will help give the new defense time to gel together than Amato stopping shots.

Jesse Bernhardt - This is another one that could be mentioned among the “played well” each and every week. He was all over the field, defensively and on the wings. I’m not sure how many lock-down long poles there are this season, but Bernhardt is capable of taking away a midfield unit’s No. 1 option. He certainly gives the Terps’ defense a certain sense of security when he’s on the field.

A few others that had some good moments include: Landon Carr, Goran Murray, Taylor Morgan and Michael Ehrhardt

Team Captains

Five Terps were selected by team vote to serve as 2012 team captains: seniors Jake Bernhardt, Joe Cummings and Drew Snider, and juniors Jesse Bernhardt and Owen Blye.

Some observations of a hard fought Wizard victory:

John Wall plays all our for every second that he is in the game. For that I respect him. His jump shot seems to be getting better. When it arrive Wall could be a top five guard in the league. Tonight he scored 31 on 10-19 shooting. We have to remember he would only be a Junior if he was still in college. However, under Calipari I doubt if he would have improved that much.

Somehow the Wizards squandered a 18 point lead against a team with a 8-18 record.

Trevor Booker needs to stay in the starting lineup. Despite being an in between size guy, the Clemson grad makes up for it with tremendous physical play.

14,600 announced crowd, amazing for a Monday night against the Raptors.

Check out the youtube video of Kevin Love stomping on Luis Scola’s head. Love received a 2 game suspension.

With 9 minutes 30 seconds left in the first half, Maryland trailed 9-6. That about describes the first 11 minutes. Do the math thats 46 out of the 64.

Full court pressure can really wear you down and Georgia Tech stayed in the press the entire game. But maryland overcame the press and won in impressive style befitting its #8 ranking. The Terps are now 7-3 in the conference and 20-3 overall. ext up is Clemson on the road Thursday night.
