Maryland running back Caleb Porzel is no longer enrolled at the the university and will transfer, an athletic department official confirmed Thursday. The official said Porzel’s decision was related to academics. A highly touted in-state recruit two years ago, Porzel appeared in seven games and started one as a true freshman for the Terps last season, running for 75 yards on 30 carries and zero touchdowns. Porzel was expected to split playing time with backup running backs Davin Meggett and D.J. Adams behind expected starter Da’Rel Scott this season.

There is very little to say after today’s loss, in which a disappointing season keeps getting worse. Some observations of another tough conference game.

I listened to 90% of the game and enjoyed it much more then watching on a stuttering 360. I just finished watching the replay on 360 but it should be noted that Comcast will replay the game at 7:30 tomorrow night.

Caleb Porzel had some good moments though his stats tell a different story.

Just like last year, all of a sudden we can’t get the ball into the hands of our playmaker, Torrey Smith.

Several times on third and long we put the ball into the running Chris Turner. I don’t get that.

Maryland’s Ben Pooler, subbing for an injured Demetrius Hartsfield, had a game- and career-high 13 tackles, including one sack. Alex Wujciak had 11 stops and Cameron Chism intercepted Lewis and had 10 tackles.

QB for Duke, Thaddeus lewis was able to move the ball the air easily against the Terps, even in torrential rains. He threw for 371 yards.

At some point, Ralph must play Jamarr Robinson so the staff can see how he has progressed. This year is virtually done–there will be at leats 7 losses and thus no bowl.

The Terps have the week off and then will play what is probably the easiest game left this season at NC State.

I still can’t believe we lost to Duke in football.

There is not much to say. Another winnable game against a mediocre team goes down the drain due to 4 turnovers. Some observations of a wet cold Saturday.

One play probably told us about the present and future. Sporting a 9-6 lead, Caleb Porzel turned the right corner as he passed the line of scrimmage with lightning speed. Believe me, he was gone for 6 and the game but he slipped in the slop and that was that. However, Caleb is the future—when the off line rounds into shape , he will be the man.

The defense was outstanding today led by 14 tackles by Alex Wujciak. the d barely bent and basically was never threatened.

Chris Turner was 16-38 with about 5 dropped passes. kerry Boykins droppeed severalballs. Torrey Smith was taken out of his game by the Cavaliers unwillingness to Kick him the ball.

A pretty good crowd, all things considered, suffered through endless timeouts for replays and other TV timeouts. If the fans have to suffer like that at least put the gameson real TV not the U or 360.

Nick Ferrara could notovercome the sloppy field conditions at the endof the game and missed 2 FGs in the 4th quarter, that might have changed the outcome of the game.

Virginia brought about 500 of the most vocalfans in existence. I guess they must have to learn to scream loud from sitting in John Paul John arena where the upstairs seating is light years from the court.

Despite the loss the Terps were well prepared today as the Caoches designed a game plan that was working both on offense and defense.

Next up for the Terrapins is a road cotest at duke next Saturday afternoon. This game has been relegated to ESPN 360 and its 4 minute delay.

The score was not indicative of the onesidedness of the game. That being said Chris Turner had a decent game tossing 3 TDs of his own. Some observations:

Caleb Porzel burned his redshirt as expected but was ineffective in 3 rushing attempts. Have no fear this kid will be great.

The return of Bruce Campbell to the lineup is crucial to this team. There is just no running game or pass protection without him.

Ralph had this to say post game:”We obviously played poorly in the first half and they (Wake Forest) played really well. You have to give it to our kids. They hung in there and kept fighting. If we had scored that touchdown with eight minutes to go, who knows what would have happened. We blew a lot of coverages in the first half and didn’t get a whole lot going offensively. Other than the long kick return, I wasn’t real pleased with our special teams. We then played better in the second half but it was too little too late.”

Wake gained over 500 yds despite playing close to the vest in the 2nd half.

The Terps are now 2-4 and 1-1 in the conference.

Our next 2 opponents Dke and UVA were both easy winners today—Duke by 21 over NC State and UVA 47-7 over IU.

Alex Wujciak led the team again with 11 tackles.
