Highlights of a blowout win for the Terps:

Let’s see–who says Maryland football is dead–45ooo in Baltimore for Navy and 40000 in College Park for Morgan.

Danny O’Brien was sharp as QB w 3 TD passes. His 1st to Matt Furstenburg was a thing of beauty.

Danny turned his ankle but early reports say he should be OK for the Mountaineers.

Jamarr was productive leading 2 TD drives and his passing was much improved.

Moten, Hartsfield, and Wujciak were impenetrable today.

The HoKies humiliating loss to JMU might have had something to do with Ralph running up the score.

The Terps are 2-0–last year they finished 2-10

Davin Meggett was sharp running for 40 yards on an early drive.

Tony Logan (Pictured) had 128 punt return yards. Stats mean very little in this game because of Maryland’s total domination.

Torrey Smith had 2 TD receptions 1 each from Jamarr and O’Brien.

Ralph was ecstatic after the game “We’re better than last year, no question about that,” Friedgen said. “We’re starting to gain some confidence right now and have the focus to do that. It was a worry of mine that we’d go out there and just lay the ball on the ground and abandon our techniques. We didn’t do that.”

Early in the 2nd quarter on one play Maryland’s entire offensive line was offside.

Special teams for Maryland were plaqued with too many penalties.

Byrd Stadium sure could use an Attman’s stand at the game.

Well the talk and speculation will finally end tomorrow at M&T Bank Stadium. My advice is to GO to this game. It is a true spectacle anytine to watch the Naval Academy. The game 5 years ago was awesome. Here’s my take on the game.

Navy comes into this game a touchdown favorite. The speculation for success for the Midshipmen in 2010 is higher then it has been in 3 decades. There are many in Annapolis who believe Navy could go 12-0. This is actually one of Navy’s marquee games, with the exception of Notre Dame. Ricky Dobbs is a Heisman trophy candidate. You can slow him down a little but never entirely. The triple option will pose problems for Maryland in that they rarely see it. However Navy’s linebacking corps is composed of relatively inexperienced players. Jamarr Robinson will have a field day with Navy, running and passing on the run. Look for Da’Rel Scott and Torrey Smith to have huge games. To a man Maryland has to be sick and tired of hearing Navy this, Dobbs that, 2-10.etc. Navy is a quality team. But not today!!! Maryland 35 Navy 28.

Opening statement from Ralph—-

“I think we’ve had great preparation going into this season. Our off-season work was very good. I think we’ve improved over where we were this time last year. ”I think our offensive line is better, we’ve been able to stay healthy and have the same team working together which I think is really important for us. We have a young, inexperienced group behind the first team but we are looking very good with the first team at this point. We’re going to have players on the offense that can make plays, especially at wide receiver and running back and also at tight end. Even though we’ve suffered a few losses there, the good news is we’ve only lost one of our tight ends for the year; the others will be back. “Defensively I think we have some youth. We lost some defensive linemen but I think we are more athletic and have more speed. Our secondary is inexperienced but I think we will be better there. We have more athleticism and more aggressiveness so we should be improved there also. I think the strength of our defense is our linebackers. With (Alex) Wujciak, (Adrian) Moten and (Demetrius) Hartsfield I think we have three very good linebackers.

With the departure of three-year starter Chris Turner, the Maryland quarterback position will have a different look in 2010. While there will be less experience at the position, the Terps are armed with five talented and athletic signal-callers. Junior Jamarr Robinson enters the preseason atop the depth chart after starting two of the final three games of 2009 and having a solid spring. ”The final four games of last year really helped Jamarr,” Friedgen said. “I think he’s playing at a much higher level now. His decisions were much improved. He has the ability to make a bad play into a good one.” Already in possession of a strong arm, Robinson showed his elusiveness in a pair of near upsets at the end of last season. ”There were some positives with Chris getting hurt,” Friedgen said. “It forced us to play Jamarr. I thought he got better each and every game. Now we have a quarterback who has some experience.” Robinson, who completed 46 of 85 passes (54.1 percent) for 459 yards in his brief time, also demonstrated the ability to keep the ball away from the opposing defense by not tossing an interception all season.

“I feel good about our quarterback position for the future,” Friedgen said. “The biggest thing right now is we have four freshmen – two redshirt freshmen and true freshmen – in the mix and then Jamarr, who’s a redshirt junior. We should be stable there for quite a while.” Redshirt freshmen Danny O’Brien and C.J. Brown will also vie for time under center. O’Brien served as either the No. 2 or 3 quarterback last season and possesses a strong arm with good mobility. He came out of spring practice No. 2 on the depth chart behind Robinson. Brown, the more mobile of the two, ended the spring third on the depth chart, but he should challenge for time in the fall. from umterps.com

Currently there are 5 QBs on the roster. #3,4,and 5 did not get much PT but the starter and his backup showed signs of being in command. JaMarr Robinson admitted to being nervous at first but he settled down and played well. Unfortunatyely I lost my audio with QB1 Jamarr Robinson. He seems to easily fit the QB1 role.
If there was a MVP today , it was DJ Adams. His running was crisp, his cutbacks were timely, and he exhibited power I did not know he possessed. I spoke with an excited DJ postgame. DJ Adams

Cameron Chism played well for the white team with 7 tackles. Kenny Tate had 2 interceptions , the 2nd of which the secondary started a freelance lateral play that Ed Reed would have been proud of. We spoke afterwards to Cameron Chism and Kenny Tate

Torrey Smith caught 4 balls for 90 yards including a TD pass from Jamarr Robinson. Torrey is taking over a leadership role on this team.Torrey Smith

Backupp QB Danny O’Brien was cool, calm, and collected minus his 2 ints today. I was impressed with his demeanor when talking with him.Danny O’Brien

Finally I talked with head coach in waiting and Offensive Coordinator james Franklin James Franklin Coach Franklin was very upbeat and reminded me not to forget about CJ Brown, who did not get many reps today.

Jamarr Robinson looked excellent in defeat. In the series he was in , Jamarr threw 3 on the money bullet passes. He also engineered the last TD drive to close the gap to 19-17.

Torrey Smith finished a brilliant season with a TD reception late in the game.

35000 at the game today with the student sections obviously being effected by theThanksgiving holiday.

Alex Wujciak had 12 tackles today.

It was an emotional for QB1 Chris Turner as h drew the starting assignment in the last game.
