What a miraculous, insane Monday night game last night. The Ravens almost blew a 21-0 and then a 28-7 lead on tremendous play by former UVA QB Matt Schaub. The Ravens defensive players were literally out of gas as Schaub marched the Texans to 2 drives of 99 and 95 yards to tie the game. Fortunately the Ravens won the OT toss to give their defense a breather. The 2nd biggest play was a tremendous punt that pinned the Texans back on the 7. Then Josh Wilson stolen from Seattle on September by Ozzie, came through with by far the biggest play of the year.

Despite how pathetic the Ravens looked down the wire, perhaps the play by Wilson could be the one to turn the season around. New Orleans comes to town next and the Ravens will have to face them on a short week. But M&T will be buzzing and after the tremendous letdown of the Steelers loss, hope springs eternal again.

No criticism of Flacco this week. Dropped balls by Mason and Bouldin,a weak offensive left side of the line, continual safety blitzes all put extraordinary pressure on Joe. He survived the first half but the offense was totally non productive in the 2nd. Something has to change. The running game is almost non-existent.

Scot Van Pelt just gave a shout out to Terrapin Josh Wilson.

The Jets fined and suspended their conditioning coach for tripping another Terrapin, Nolan carroll of the Dolphins. Thank heaven, Nolan wasn’t injured by the impulsive, idiotic move by the Jets coach.

The streak is opver . Brett was inactive tonight ending what some say is the greatest streak of all time (not by those in Baltimore) at 297. I am thoroughly sick of hearing about him and hopes he vanishes.

The Ravens gave up 500 yards of offense yet still were able to win. It was hard to miss the pained look of Coach Harbaugh as the game withered away. To me the Ravens miss Jared Gaither much more then anyone will admit. The sacks seem to be coming from the blind side, something that almost never happened when Gaither was playing left tackle.

I don’t have to wait for Mike Preston’ s grading to know that the specials teams will get an A+ this week.

If you think for a second that back injuries are not extremely painful, I assure you that you have never had problems with your back. I just read the article in today’s Sun and I feel for jared. More then anything else he wants to be back in that lineup but with the pain associated with his injury, I highly doubt it will be soon. It is a long slow process to recover from a back injury and I only hope my readers never experience the misery. For most of those going through the problems of disc damage let it be known that you have trouble dressing yourself, tieing your shoes, going to the bathroom can be a chore, sitting is painful, trying to sleep is nearly impossible and taking hits from 300 pound lineman is probably not recommended. Jared –Do Not Come Back until you are healed.

The rumors still persit that Jared might be traded to Buffalo leaving the right side for O’Neill Cousins. I can’t believe the Ravens would make that move considering how poorly Cousins played last year. In his most extensive interview with reporters since joining the Ravens in 2007, Gaither gave his support to Oher, the lineman who replaced him. ”I know he’ll do great,” Gaither said. “He has a tremendous upside. He’s much more improved and has much more improvement to do. He’ll do a phenomenal job at left tackle.”

I Doubt It" width="490" height="200" />

Tonight is the NFL 1st Round draft and the key question for Terrapin fans is will Jared still be a Raven after tonight. Matt Zenitz explained to me why Gaither needs to be traded. Jared is a left tackle who perhaps might not be as good as Michaek Oher. However, whereas it seems its easy to switch Gaither over to the right side, the money difference between the 2 tackle positions is astronomical. Apparently the Ravens refuse to pay 2 lineman left tackle money. Agent Drew Rosenhaus will never let Gaither setlle for 2nd tier money. Now I believe letting the ex Terp go for anything less then a 1st round pick would be a mistake. I just find it hard to believe that the Ravens think they caNn easily fill that RT spot after the poor performance of ONeill Cousins in a sub role at RT. Anyone can play right tackle, any reliever can be a closer, kickers are easy to replace, etc. All of that being said, I refuse to ever 2nd guess perhaps the strongest organization when it comes to the NFL draft. Ozzie, DeCosta , and Company are simply the best and their track record proves it.

Speaking of Terps and the NFL draft, most experts believe there are possibly 6 Terrapins who might be drafted: Projected 1st Rounder Bruce Campbell, FB Cory Jackson, Center Phil Costa, Travis Ivey, Nolan Carroll, Terrell Skinner. QB Chris Turner should definitely enter a training camp.

To break up the tackle combination the Ravens have is insane. Check out how ONeill Cousins did at right tackle last year when Jared was out.
