Is there any question that Maryland dominates the Women’s Basketball scene.  Marissa Coleman and Crystal Langhorne take on the Chicago Sky and Kristi Tolliver. This is the first meeting of Kristi and Coleman at Verizon. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 7PM.

Before 11,800, the Washington Mystics defeated Chicago tonight 81-72. More important it was a clash between 2 ex-Terps. Crystal Langhorne scored 14 points with 6 bounds and rookie Kristi Tolliver scored 13 in a losing effort. Marissa Coleman is out for 4-6 weeks with a high ankle sprain.

kristi-marissa-wnbaFour years of dedicated team play paid off on Thursday, as 2 Terrapin superstars, Mariisa Coleman and Kristi Tolliver were selected 2nd and 3rd in the WNBA draft. Marissa joins former Maryland teammate, Crystal Langhorne, who was also a 1st round pick for the Mystics last year. Coach Brenda Frese was on hand for the festivities. Fifteen of the top women’s basketball prospects have been invited to the 2009 WNBA Draft on Thursday, April 9 at the NBA Entertainment studios in Secaucus, N.J., with coverage beginning at 3 p.m. on ESPN2. The Maryland Terrapins will be represented by a pair of senior standouts in guard/forward Marissa Coleman and point guard Kristi Toliver

I expect both Terrapins to be in the top five picks with Kristi Tolliver going to Phoenix with pick #5.

There was an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach tonight as “the recruiter” Jeff Walz frustrated his 2 prized pupils, Kristi and Marissa. Marissa Coleman was double teamed every time she made a move and Kristi had to resort to shooting NBA 3’s in order to get her shot off. The other pieces of the Terp puzzle played adequately but not well enough to to jolt the Terps into the Final Four.  Louisville. realizing that the Terps were … Read More »

The Terps outrebounded the Utes 54-24, enough said. This game was the last game ever at Comcast for Marissa and Kristi. They finish their final 2 seasons at Comcast undefeated.

lady-terps-acc-champsIIt was a happy day in Greensboro on Sunday. My only concern is that the Lady Terps are so hot, I hate the idea of 2 weeks off. Fortunately, as a #1 Seed the Terps will draw a relatively easy game at home on the 22nd. For those of you who still haven’t seen Kristi or Marissa live, you will … Read More »

This is a team on a roll. The only obstacle will be UCONN but that’s a ways aways. Marissa Coleman was named MVP as she scored 28 again, including the winning 3 point shot. Kim Rodgers came off the bench to hit 2 big free throws to preserve the lead. Kristi Tolliver added 26 points to secure the first ACC title for the 2 graduating seniors. The big dance starts March 22 for the Terps at Comcast.

“This team’s on a mission” a direct quote from Marissa Coleman and she really backed it up today scoring 29 points in a 95-84 win over UNC. The #4 Terrapins have now won 11 straight and are up to 27-4. Kim Rodgers came off the bench to provide a much needed 11 points. Tomorrow at 1, Marissa and Kristi try to get the one title that has eluded their stellar career, the ACC Championship.
