Marc-Andre Fleury emerged from the abyss of Game 5 to lead the Penquins to a 2-1 victory at Pittsburgh last night. But it was 2 remarkable saves by Scuderi in the final seconds after Fleury was virtually out of the cage, that saved the victory. Game 7 Friday night at Detroit.

In a game reminiscent of the shellacking Pittsburgh gave the Caps in Game 7, Detroit thoroughly humbled Malkin, and Sid, etc. The Pens looked finished as they cheapshotted their way through the end of the game. The Red Wings will put Siney out of his misery on Tuesday.

The Stanley Cup finals return to Detroit tonight as the Penguins look to keep their winning streak alive. The Pens are younger, more energetic and have momentum on their side. Evgeni Malkin is playing the best hockey he’s played in these playoffs.Sid the Kid will step up tonight,and there will be a changing of the guard as #87 leads his team to victory. Look for Pittsburgh to close out the series on their own ice in game six.

I am going to keep it simple:

Penquin skeletons still in closet

May I say I have been to thousands of sporting events and yes this was the toughest ticket I have ever seen. Hundreds of people draped the Verizon Center with 1 or 2 fingers in the air. My only comment for on of the worst performances ever by a home team in game 7, is that Boudreau should have given Varlamov a rest in Game 3 or 4. The kid was worn out.. The Caps were not ready to play. Get out the golf clubs.

7th Game Prediction for Caps Penquins Series

Now that I have joined the #8 fan club, I have to put my bias aside for the following prediction. It is inconceivable that Mike Green will continue to be a no show in this series. The Caps defense must provide better support for Varlamov. The performance of the defense after the Caps took a 4-3 lead was a joke. A piece of advice #87 for Pittsburgh hangs around the net, maybe somebody should keep an eye on him. Key to the game : the Caps will come out on all 6 cylinders, they need to convert early and dominate this game. Forget the home advantage, it has meant very little. It is time for the Caps to remove the Penquin skeleton from its closet. Ovie will score twice Caps 4 Pens 2.

Steckel Scores in OT–Caps Win 4-3 Even Series at 3-3

The defense remains weak but the Caps resolve was strong as Ovie had 3 assists and played a tremendous game leading his Caps to victory. When the caps took the lead on Koslov’s goal the team went into offensive hibernation. Varlamov stopped shot after shot until Crosby rebounded one in with 4 minutes left. It was great to see Semin reenter the series but there is a still a MIA alert for Mike Green. The 7th game Showdown occurs Wednesday night at Verizon center.
