I wonder how all the Pros who have never won a major felt today–Lee Westwwod, Sergio, Scott Verplank, Colin Montgomery, etc. —as Keegan stormed to victory in his first ever major. On the day after the American Ryder Cup captain announced the eight names that automatically qualified for the squad that will travel to Wales in October, much buzz continues about the names still unknown for the Yankee side. Corey Pavin said in his press conference that Tiger Woods is near the top of his list for players that could be among his four hand-picked team members. Woods, who finished the Ryder Cup points race in 12th position, has said he would like to be picked by Pavin and participate. Apparently, Rory McIlroy would like that, too.

“I would love to face him. Unless his game rapidly improves… I think anyone in the European team would fancy their chances against him,” McIlroy was quoted as saying in a report. ”There are a lot of American players playing better than him at the minute but it’s always an advantage to have Tiger Woods in your team,” McIlroy added. ”I think he’ll (Pavin) pick him. I don’t think it would go down too well in the States if he wasn’t picked.”

If the Euros are chomping at the bit to face El Tigre, what does that say of his long gone intimidation factor?

And, for what it’s worth, I think this reads a whole lot worse than it probably would sound. So, don’t expect another 9 and 8 incident.

I guess a major can be riveting without Tiger present. The other day I moved a leaf off of my golf ball and the ball moved a fraction of an inch–Penalty—The lie didn’t improve but that’s the rule. Dustin Johnson grounded his club in a bunker-2 shot penalty. Now just because he didn’t know it was a bunker doesn’t excuse him. But what bothers me is there was a rules official assigned to each of the last 5 groups on Sunday. Why in the world didn’t he mention and reiterate the posted ruling before Dustin entered the trap. Bubba took a page from the Mikkelson school of idiocy in trying for the green on 18. Bubba you were 40 yards short and blew the PGA. I shudder to think of how the Ryder Cup may turn out if the US decision making continues to be this bad. By the way do you think Tiger should added by Pavin. Remember in 08 the USA won without him.
