Coach Friedgen on Terp Talk Last Night–QB Race Too Close to Call

Last night Terp Talk received the word from Coach Ralph Friedgen that the QB position at Maryland is up for grabs.  When asked whether Steffey or Turner had adapted to the West Coast offense better, Ralph instantly replied that on Day 3 of practice, Josh Portis stood out.  Coach spoke of the depth of the offensive line, a critical factor after last year’s line was ravaged with injury.  He also emphasized the improvement of team speed as a result of some of the guys who received no playing time last year being ready for prime time.  Opening day is only 3 weeks away on August 30. Hopefully the podcast of the interview will be up very shortly for thos of you who missed it.

In his first major league at bat, Luis Montanez homered to become the first Orioles to do so in 45 years when Buster Narum went deep.  The O’s return home to face Texas after a successful 5-4 road trip.
