The top-ranked Maryland field hockey team was named the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament Tuesday night. The undefeated Terrapins, who are returning national champions, will begin their road to defending their title at home Saturday at 11 a.m. against the 16-seed American. Maryland will also host Connecticut and Drexel who will play each other Saturday at 2 p.m. The winners of the two games will face each other Sunday at 2 p.m.
The University of Maryland women’s soccer team has been selected as the No. 4 seed in the North Carolina bracket and will serve as a host school for the first and second rounds of the 2009 NCAA Tournament. The 20th-ranked Terps will take on Monmouth on Friday, Nov. 13, at Ludwig Field at 5 p.m. (from umterps.com)
