Tar Heels Lose to College of Charleston 82-79 in OT

I said it the other night on the Terrapin Pregame  Show on ESPN–The ACC is just not as strong as it has been. This will lead to the Terps doing better then expected. I wonder the reaction of the polls to Carolina’s loss last night to Charleston. Bobby Cremins exposed the weakness of the Tar Heel’s perimeter defense. On equal grounds we all know that Gary will outcoach any of his rivals in the ACC. Again I anxiously await Super Bowl Sunday when the whole nation will be watching the Terps and Tar Heels clash at Comcast.

I watched most of this game, and it is clear that the Tar Heels as talented as they are, are playing as individuals and are still trying to find a team identity. The Heels have to win in the paint because of their lack of experienced guards and numerous big men, and the Cougars were efficient enough from three to win.

Other than Ed Davis and Deon Thompson, the Heels don’t have many players that teams will be legitimately worried about. UNC will be tough, but they can be beaten with a disciplined team.
