it was a very good story. the 3 seniors improved each yr and will be missed. vasquez had a sensational career. he played with a flair, great emotion and with unbridled joy. i like many others are so happy he came back for his senior year. hayes was steady and efficient and truly an outstanding college player. a guy who came in as a point guard and switched to shooting guard and answered the challenge. milbourne went from a guy who rarely played as a freshman to someone who will be remembered as a warrior. a player who played out of position against much bigger players without any complaining. a true team player. as a matter of fact all three were team players. good luck guys. thanks for the memories!
Four years ago on a cold fall day, I watched the freshman tandem of Greivas Vasquez and Eric Hayes lead the Terps to victory on TV for the first time. Right then and there…..
I predicted to my wife ,also an avid Terp fan , that if both would stay in school they would lead Maryland to a NCAA championship in their senior years! What a difference .5 of a second can make. I still think it would have been the Terps over the Dukies in the finals this year. Oh how sweet that would have been! But in a blink of the eye, it was over. I don’t think Maryland fans will ever see a backcourt like that again.
HAYES AND VASQUEZ WERE AN EXCEPTIONAL BACK COURT. NOT AS GOOD AS LUCAS-HOWARD, LUCAS-HOWARD-DAVIS, OR BLAKE-DIXON…BUT QUITE GOOD. I DO THINK WE’LL SEE A BACK COURT EQUAL TO OR BETTER IN THE YEARS TO COME.
