Well, it wasn’t pretty but the Terps held on to a hard fought victory. Tony Logan’s 85 yard punt return turned the tide Maryland’s way. Some observations of an important victory.
Everyone is expecting way too much of QB1 Danny O”Brien. He started off slow again and picked up as the game went on. Perhaps he might need to open up a little earlier in the game! For a freshman he has been playing superb. Danny was 9-26 for 170 yards with no turnovers.
Great improvement in the crowd this week. Probably close to 40000
DaRel Scott seems like he is just not hitting the holes hard enough.
Antwine Perez had his finest day as a Terp. Vellano is improving every week.
Duke’s QB #19 had to make you think a tiny bit about Johnny U with his hunchback walk and the look-a-like Colts unis the Devils were wearing
At 9-0 and the Blue Devils driving, I have to admit I didn’t see victory in this game.
The defense bent but never broke Saturday night. Where is the pass rush.
This instant replay is getting out of control–another 3 1/2 hour game..
Will Yeatman saw limited action Saturday
Maryland seemed to out tough Duke throughout the game.
Coach Friedgen commented after the game:”It wasn’t pretty. But a win is a win. I told our team you have to win some when you’re not working on all cylinders, biorhythms are not right you just have to reach down and find a way to win. I think that’s what we did tonight. I think Duke is a very good offensive football team and I thought they played very well on defense tonight. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Dave Cutcliffe and I knew that team would be ready to play.
“Offensively I thought we missed a lot of plays that were there. I thought we either dropped the ball or we didn’t throw it accurately. Da’Rel [Scott] was like [Danny O’Brien’s] fourth option on the play and Da’Rel made a play, made a couple guys miss, and he got the ball in the end zone.”

had robinson been qb after looking at his his first option he wold have ran. other than the big play to scott and the 44 yd pass play to smith very little offense but no fumbles lost or int.’s. defense played better in the 2nd half.
4-1 with the loss coming to the only good team we played but still 4-1.

In the same spirit as your “just win, baby” headline. It should be noted that with one game left in the Major League Baseball season, former Terp Brett Cecil from the Toronto Blue Jays has 15 wins. He will lead the jays in wins this year and is good for “Top 15” in the majors. His ERA stinks,ut wins are wins!
