University of Maryland center Jordan Williams was among the 50 student-athletes named on Monday as members of the preseason list for the John Wooden Award. Williams, a 6-foot-10 sophomore from Torrington, Conn., was one of eight players from the Atlantic Coast Conference on the list. He is also one of 10 sophomores to make the preseason top 50. Williams was selected to the Freshman All-ACC team a year ago. He averaged 9.6 points and a team-high 8.6 rebounds per game last season. He had five double-doubles in Maryland’s final 10 games, including both games in the NCAA Tournament. from umterps.com
