Believe it or not there was a time that the NBA was so unpopular that games of the Championship series were shown on delayed TV. Case in point—in 1980 Game 6 was in Philly with the Lakers up 3-2. However Kareem was injured and did not make the trip. Thus no one gave the lakers a chance and the game was delayed to a midnight replay. I vividly remember I ducked the score all night and prepared to watch the game. I saw the pregame –knew Magic was playing center. remember Magic was a rookie that year. Well the rest is history , Magic scored 42 –the Lakers won but I fell asleep in the first 5 minutes of the game and never even saw a highlight. Last night the game was on NBA Classics. Only magic could have pulled that one off.
