“I’ve watched Maryland a good bit ,” said Henderson. “I know that (Greivis) Vasquez got better every year he was there. He came in and just worked his way up. That’s what I want to do, maybe get my feet wet as a freshman and then improve from year to year.
“I know there’s a new staff there now, but I am familiar with both (Mark) Turgeon and (Scott) Spinelli. They’ve been recruiting me for some time, back when they were at Texas A&M. They know me and my game very well.
“Coach Turgeon is just a great guy, I really enjoy talking to him. He just seems like a very down to earth person, and yet he’s proven himself to be an excellent coach. He knows what it takes to get players to the next level.”
