Bowers, Goree, and Monroe Named to Freshman All America Team

Defensive linemen Keith Bowers and Andre Monroe, and linebacker Lorne Goree were all selected to the College Football News (CFN) Freshman All-America team on Friday.

 Monroe, who ranks second in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in sacks among freshmen (0.56 per game), earned a spot on the second team. Bowers and Goree were honorable mention choices.

 Bowers played in all 12 games, starting the final 11 at defensive end. He posted 36 tackles, including six tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks. The native of West Palm Beach, Fla., ranks tied for seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference among freshmen in tackles for loss (0.50 per game).

 Goree started the season as a reserve linebacker, but stepped into a starting role due to injuries. He played in all 12 games and ranks second in the ACC in tackles among freshmen (5.0 per game). The native of Springdale, Md., ranked fifth on the team in tackles (60) and averaged 7.1 stops in his seven starts (five at Mike LB; two at Will LB).
