Zach Dancel has heard Randy Edsall’s vision for the Maryland football program and he wants to be a part of it. The New Mexico freshman safety and former Good Counsel star QB/ATH visited UM today and pledged to Edsall, and then he jumped a plane to Orlando to see his half brother, Wes Brown, at this week’s Under Armour AA Game with Brown set to announce tomorrow during the game.
“Going into today I had a long talk with Coach Edsall about what he plans for the program. And that meant a lot. And also I had my connection with Coach [Mike] Locksley. And he’s such a good guy.
“And just the fact it’s my hometown, the in-state school, it just means a lot.”
Dancel will finish the school year at New Mexico and enroll at UM in the summer and sit out a transfer year. He will have three years to play at Maryland. The 6-1, 200-pounder started seven games and had some 40 tackles and a pick this year as a freshman playing for Locksley.
One of the most highly sought after recruits in the nation, Wes Brown from Good Counsel, is part of the Dancel family. Hopefully tomorrow he joins Zach at Maryland.
