Some thoughts on a great win vs the U:
Welcome to Comcast Ceneter Mr Larranaga!!!! Facing a team with superior talent then the Terps, Coach Turgeon’s troops out hustled, out defended, out rebounded and dealt the U a devastating loss. James Padgett dropped an and 1 on an offensive rebound to give the Terps a lead they would not relinquish. Strong d by Freshman Nick Faust preserved the victory.
Let’s not forget it was Captain Sean Mosley who nailed a 3 late in the game to keep the Terps in the hunt. Sean finished with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
Terrell Stoglin played with much more finesse only forcing a few shots, but also chalking up3 assists to go with his 20 points. Coach Larranaga commented on Terrell’s play :On Terrell Stoglin leading the ACC in scoring:
“He is a high-octane scorer, he gets a lot of touches and he gets a lot of shots. He is very, very hard to guard in the outside shots and in the ball screens. You cannot relax on him because he can shoot the long distance 3s but he can go by you and get the layups. I think during the game, we did some pretty good things but not enough to build up a lead. They shot 45 percent from the field and that is too high when we only shoot 40 percent. We need to do a better job defensively and their offensive rebounds. Although they only had eight second-chance points, they all came in the last five minutes of the game.”
So here is the bottom line. Ateam that almost every prognosticator picked to be at the bottom of the ACC is now 6-7 and faces a crucial game Saturday at Georgia Tech in a quest to finish .500 in the ACC.Gergia Tech is playing without its star, Glen Rice, Jr who has been indefinitely suspended from the squad.
