About 3 weeks ago I was discussing with Jeff Barker of the Sun who should be the ACC MVP this year. Jeff told me watch Mike Scott closely when he came to Comcast. Scott was incredible Sunday. He broke the press, shot 11-20 from the Field, had 11 rebounds and yes for superstar calls from Karl Hess and his associates. Nonetheless he has been the best player I have seen this year. The NBA scouts in attendance were drooling.
Sean carried the squad until Terrell found his range. Stogs certainly solidified his title as the ACC leading scorer this season.
The Terps made a valiant comeback, though it seems that I have said that many times this year, taking the game into OT. But the lack of depth and performance from the bigs hindered us again. Thus ends a disappointing ACC regular season for the Terps finishing in 8th place with a 6-10 record.
But Coach Turgeon drained every ounce of effort from this squad. The loss to Georgia Tech was devastating but perhaps the biggest loss were the many games that PeShon missed. BELIEVE ME OUR TEAM IS IN GREAT HANDS WITH COACH TURGEON!!!!! Turgeon Audio: Memo-2
Sean Mosley was super post game always spreading optimism as he said he is expecting the Terps to run the table and win the ACC tourney. Some of his post game comments:
“Well, you know there’s still a lot of basketball to be played, just me not playing here at home anymore. It didn’t feel any different, I just know we have to look forward to the ACC Tournament and try to do our best down there and win some games, and hopefully win the whole thing.”
On his four years at Maryland:
“It definitely flew by, I guess when you’re having a lot of fun , playing a lot of games, and winning a lot of games, like my first two years, they flew by kind of fast. I’m just glad we fought hard, and came back and overcame that adversity in the second half. As a player, I tip my hat off to my teammates even though we lost.”
So now the Terps have an easy run to the ACC Title–Wake on Friday at Noon, and then North Carolina, Probably UVA and then Maybe Duke. But that’s why they play the game.
