Mark Turgeon commented on the future of Terrapin basketball.
“We’re proud of the progress this team made from the beginning of the season until the end. Playing so well in all facets of the game against Wake Forest at the ACC Tournament will give all our players and our fans something to be proud of as we head into the spring and summer. Given the current financial situation in the athletics department, we feel as though now is not the right time for us to be involved with any of the models of the other postseason tournaments. With a very good recruiting class coming in and looking at the positive aspects of the season we just finished, we look forward to working throughout this upcoming off-season to getting Maryland Basketball where we all want it to be.”
My comments—Mark Turgeon has done an incredible job in his first year as Terrapin head coach. He certainly got the most of the talent he inherited. He has put together a top 13 recruiting class for 2012 that will rise higher if he can secure the commitment of Sam Cassell, Jr.. Not making the NIT is of little concern to me. Not being in the dance is of major concern. It was a 2nd straight empty Selection Sunday. This year there was very little expectation of making the top 68 when the season started. But help is on the way. The calvary will arrive next year. There will not be 6 walk ons on the squad. Scrimmages between all scholarship players will occur. There will be competition at every position. I am fully confident we have the leader to bring Maryland Basketball back to it’s proper position. I am counting the days until Midnight Madness!!!!!!

Terps will be back stronger than ever no doubt and will be a Top 10 Ten next year(no doubt). The talent Turgeon is bringing is the Cavarly. The Nation will soon Fear the Turtle once more.
