Disappointment Reigns at Byrd Today as UVA Comes From Behind to Defeat Terps 12-8 Behind 8 points from Stanwick

I am never one to hide my emotions so I have to admit to being upset today having to watch the few UVA fans in attendance celebrate victory in our house. The Hoos were not hit nearly as hard by graduation as the Terps were last year and the depth and experience eventualy wore Maryland down. Steele Stanwick was the difference today with 3 goals and 5 assists.

Maryland after getting off to a slow start actually led the game 7-5  with 10 minutes left in the 3rd quarter after Michael Shakespeare score his 2nd goal. Joe Cummings again was stellar scoring twice and assisting on another.Curtis Holmes shared the face off duties with freshman Charlie Raffa and the 2 combined to go 10-13.

Virginia just created easier shots, most of which Niko had no chance at. The Terps finish the regular ACC season at 1-2, hoping for redemption in 3 weeks at UVA.

Remember last year the Terps defeated UVA in Charlottesville and at that point many gave up hope on Virginia. we all know how last season ended. I talked with Coach Tillman post game:Memo-5

The Terps now face a must game against Navy on Friday night at 7PM at Byrd.

The difference was md goalie was inadequate.
He had many chances to turn the game, but was not close to stopping most shots. He was a sieve.
Seemed like an open net all game. Very poor!
