Katie Schwarzmann tallied four goals and Alex Aust recorded five points but a second-half rally by No. 3 Maryland fell short in a 14-11 defeat at No. 4 North Carolina Saturday.
Maryland (11-3, 2-2 ACC) outscored North Carolina (13-1, 5-0 ACC) 7-5 in the second stanza after trailing 9-4 at halftime.
Schwarzmann tallied three or more goals for the 10th time this season. With three goals and two assists in the contest, Aust, the reigning ACC Offensive Player of the Week, recorded four or more points for the fifth consecutive game. Beth Glaros added a pair of goals and Kristy Black dished three assists to help lead Maryland.
