Defense Dominates (Sort of) at Red White Scrimmage

What a great day at Bryd Stadium Saturday. Calling this a defensive victory is a little suspect because of the 7 or 8 quick whistles on the QB touch sacks. Some quick comments on many of the players:

The most pleasing efforts of the day went to the running back duo of Justus Pickett and Brandon Ross.  Combined they rushed for 120 yards and both show quickness.

Levern Jacobs snagged 5 passes for 44 yards and TE Matt Furstenberg grabbed 5 passes for 53 yards.

For the most part CJ looked sharp completing 19 of 33 and varying his receivers. The quick whistle on sacks is a necessary evil but distorts the game. Ricky Schultz the back up QB performed more then adequately completing 13-199 for 150 yards.

The punter Nathan Renfro average 53 yards on 6 kicks.

On defense Nate Clarke just moved to the nose tackle postion was stellar with 2 sacks. Demetrius Hartsfield led the defense with 12 tackles.

Alex Twine delivered a brutal blow on fullback Tyler Cierski, one Tyler jokingly remarked he won’t forget

Dexter McDougle snagged the only interception of the day.

From my time at the All Access Weekend and yesterday one thing is for sure–this team is unified, playing with a tremendous sense of teamwork with repeat for the coaching staff, and just plain having fun!!!!
