Maryland senior tight end Matt Furstenburg has been named to the preseason watch list for the John Mackey Award, the Nassau County Sports Commission announced Tuesday.
Given annually to the top collegiate tight end in the nation, the award will be presented on Dec. 6, 2012 at the Home Depot College Football Awards Red Carpet Show. Furstenburg is one of 33 players on the list. Furstenburg is a consensus preseason first team All-ACC selection after finishing third in the ACC in receptions (2.6 pg) and receiving yards (29.0 pg) among tight ends a year ago. He was also named to the Mackey Award midseason watch list last year, but didn’t make the semifinalist list. from umterps.com
